I guess I never paid any attention to 'Twas the Night Before Christmas thing, but i did the other day and the guy said "8 tiny raindeer"... Tiny I say! I had no idea they were/are tiny. I thought they was life size. And if they are tiny what was all the clatter up on the roof about? Santa's big butt? And if he is big why are the deer tiny? It just don't add up does it?

Santa is "magical" he isn't suppose to be like you or I .........remember when the story was written, maybe the reindeer were tiny back then, but now with conservation, they have a lot more to eat. The "clatter" was the prancing and pawing of each little hoof,do you think they would stand perfectly still and not move around? They aren't plastic. It certainly does"add up" reread the story with your children and then see if it doesn't make sense to you.

I observed yet another railway appropriate one that began: "Twas the night previously Christmas at Liverpool highway no longer a creature became stirring, no longer a tramp on a seat..." approximately Christmas closures on the East Anglia substantial line.

The Poem is actually called, "A Visit From St Nicholas", and it codified what in the US anyway, is the popular conception of Santa Claus. Jeopardy moment aside, I believe the phrase is, "...and what to my wondering soon should appear, but a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer."
Obviously when he saw them they were far away. Once they arrived on the roof, and he saw "the right jolly old elf", they appeared lifesize.

Tiny can be any size. If you put an elephant against a whale, the elephant is tiny. Perhaps the reindeer are being compared in size to an adult moose?

How come you did not have a problem with visions of sugar plums dancing in the children's heads? Why pick on vertically challenged reindeer is it because the can't talk back?
