Any good places where it gets dark enough to see the night sky? Most of the places I have gone to I get kicked out of by police because you are not allowed to stay there after the sun sets.

Are you talking about the San Francisco Bay area or the Tampa Bay area? If you are referring to the Tampa Bay area, try the rural sections of Pasco and Hillsborough Counties. I have never been to the San Francisco area, but if you are referring to there, anywhere away from the big city should be fine.

Really you are looking for a wilderness area then? How serious are you? You could try route 1 north of Stinson Beach, or if you are more serious then take Mines Road south from Livermore.
For complete black try Nevada.
