When accelerating, my car makes this noise likes rocks being sucked into a vaccum. What could the possible reason be and what do I need to do to fix it?

Could be a noisy valve train. Not exactly cheap, but cheaper than a rebuild. Try taking the car to a service center that offers desludging the engine. This is an oil system detergent wash to cean your engine out, then the engine gets serviced with clean oil. Beware and pay close attention though to make sure it actually gets done and not just an oil change with an extra charge. Tell the shop that you would like to see the equipment and that you would like to see the work done. You can play it up like you are very currious, but you are only protecting yourself.

I know it sounds kinda paranoid, but some shops will try to pull a fast one on you.

Good luck.

Its not transmission if the ENGINE is making the noise, More likely either

a) You are using a low grade gas and the engine is pinging ; or

b) Your engine timing is off and you are getting knocking from some seriously off ignition/fuel timing. Get this fixed quickly if it is the case since it will damage your engine over the long run.

hope that helps....

I drive a toyota, and a few months ago I had this exact same sound. took it to the dealership, and they said some nuts and bolts had come apart in my engine, and everytime I accelerated they were being diced, and thrown around in the engine compartment. Lucky we caught it when we did, they actually gave me a new engine, and it was covered under warrenty. Take it to the dealership as soon as you can.

see a mechanic and have it looked at. could be as simple as the heat shields on the exhaust rattling. he'll be able to tell you what is making the noise and what to do about it.
