you think i should buy a ps2 or no?

I only have enough money to get a ps2 and i want to gewt it cuz its cheap and i love that guitar hero game but im afraid it mite go out of style and make no more games for it since all these newer game conoles are coming out. should i get one?

Well, if you just want to get it for guitar hero, then, yeah. I don't think the ps3's price is coming down anytime soon. Hell, I think it'll be around $300 next Christmas. There's still loads of great games that can be played on the ps2. I bought one last february, and there're still a lot of games that I haven't tried and enjoyed yet.

I would say wait and save some more money for a PS3. The PS3 wont be that easy to come by for a few more months so you can try to save money for it. The main reason i would say buy a PS3 instead is that the PS3 also have backward technology which means it can also play PS2 and PS1 games. And if you are interested or not you cannot get a cheaper BluRay player than a PS3. Many are in the $800-$1000 dollar ranges. Just a thought.

If you didn't know Sony does a 10 year plan for their consoles.

They support the consoles for 10 years before they let them go.

Playstation was released 1995 and stopped in 2005.
Playstation 2 was released 2000 and should stop 2010.
Playstaion 3 was released 2006 and will stop in 2016.
Playstation Portable was 2004 I think and will stop 2014.

So if you bought a Playstation 2 then you would have another 4 years before your seriously need to thing of updating.

And it would be the best way to go if you like guitar hero because their is currently no way to play it on PS3. For some reason you need to push the PS button in the middle of the controller to play ps2 games on the ps3 and you don't have that button on the guitar. Plus their is no Ps2 to USB adapter that works for the playstation 3 so you still wouldn't be able to play it.

I would say if you can't afford any of the big boys then a PS2 will more than tide you over till the next gen consoles drop in price. I recently bought an Xbox360 but still regularly go back to my PS2 to play games such as Resident Evil 4 and Buzz, not to mention gems such as Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy XII....

Theres plenty of life in the PS2 yet and in years to come (as in previous years) you'll probably find that as the PS3 finds it's niche then the PS2 will really get pushed to it's limits to extend it's shelf life. Check out games such as Resident Evil 4 (great game with fantastic visuals) and Call of Duty 3.

Of course PS2 also has loads of great social and party games like Buzz, Singstar and Guitar Hero....

With the price of PS2's these days being very reasonable I'd fork out and wait for the next gen consoles to drop in price and also for the kinks to be worked out of the hardware in subsequent versions...

Yes. You will save incredible amounts of money buying a PS2 and some games that are over a few months old.

There is plenty of life in the PS2. It's the biggest selling console to date, so games will continue to be made for it. They were making games for the PS1 up until not too long ago.

yeah get it cause its a lot of fun and i have had mine for a few years now and they havnt gone out of style with me and hell yeah guitar hero is one of the sickest games i have ever played

if u want to get it. not everybodys gettin a ps3 or wii. actually people will probaby stick with ps2 for a long time
