There are two parts to your question, so I'll answer in two parts...

Freedom of speech is a God - given right, 'nuff said.

Anyone who votes has earned total qualification to be critical of the leaders of America and to hold them accountable for what they do/not do. Don't vote, don't byach.

About the flag.... I am a veteran of over 20 yrs military service, 2 wars and numerous "operations" our flag has flown every time and has been a rally point, inspiration and symbol to many people who paid the ultimate price for their belief in our system. Whether right or wrong, to ignore their sacrifice is ungrateful and malicious. The rights that everyone holds so dearly were bought in blood under our flag. To desecrate it, in my opinion, is treason. so for anyone contemplating the exercise of their right to burn the flag, just take 5 minutes and ask the members of the local VFW, what they think of the idea, since they are your benefactors of such rights.

No it is not terrorism. just stupid.

I do consider flag burning to be hatred of America, hating our leader is not. You can hate your government but love your country. This is the principal behind nationalism. (for instance, I do not like the new democratic congress, Bill Clinton, and Lyndon B. Johnson) I would not consider hatred of America to be terrorism (terrorism involves hurting others), but I would consider it to be treason, so I think these people should be severely punished.

I do, however think that it should be legal for our media to negatively portray our countries leaders, and I believe that openly speaking out against them in the media is treason.

I saw your website, I strongly agree with what you say there. I too believe that the ignorant should not have a say in our society. You should consider running for office, you could greatly help our country.

Terrorism is an anxiety-inspiring method of repeated violent action, employed by (semi-) clandestine individual, group or state actors, for idiosyncratic, criminal or political reasons, whereby - in contrast to assassination - the direct targets of violence are not the main targets. The beautiful thing about this country is that it was founded on freedom. As much as I would like to pound the guy flaming Old Glory, he is protected. Burning a flag of any country does not pose any violent threat as the word is defined. That's what makes this country great-you can hate it, but you don't have to leave it. This is why so many cowards who hate America live here. It's convenient for them.I make that principle very clear to those who push the limits of freedom.Any other place would have you killed. Disliking our leadership or it's policies is an opinion we are entitled to have. It's far from terrorism. I would hate to label a fellow American a terrorist based on his lack of support for the President. That would be unAmerican.

so you think burning flag should be an illegal entity in the USA. how about then burning your underwear instead...

what has america turn into these days...a dictatorship country ruled by US Saddam....Mr George Bush...

Why dont you grow up and discuss about something more useful,.,.like helping your homeless and street people get a job ,,throughs social sponsorship retraining...deal with your own social problems first and stop thinking about what other people outside your country are thinking about the US...

I sometimes wonder the USA brags so much about their nationality..there are still millions of undereducated, poor civilizians living in the USA who are struggling to make ends meet and trying to find money to pay for the next meal, having troubles paying for the doctos bill....but yet have the courage to tell people of other nations what they should do and should not do about the US flag...such BS!

No, they can hate America all they like... I don't understand it, but they can do it.
I certainly don't agree with everything our government does, and voice it as loudly as I can!
I have served in the military, and would defend to the death the right of a citizen to give a wholly uneducated opinion on a war in a country they couldn't even find on a map!
The founding fathers wanted to guarantee that if the U.S. government became what every government eventually does (ultra-controlling big brother) that we would through voice (1st amendment) or force (second amendment) have the ability to change it.

Yes, and if it doesn't stop, our nation will be destroyed by terrorists because we do not support our Nation like we used to.

Remember, that this incident occurred in the 60s and everyone was wearing flags for clothing. A lot of them were jailed and guess who saw all this, the foreign countries who never see the good part of America. It appears to them they those who do that are traitors.

I don't think they should be killed. Then we would be like them. We just all need to stand behind our leaders at this time of all times and also stand behind our troops. I remember Viet Nam and it was awful.

I consider flag burning terrorism because it shows outward hostility for America itself. Bashing the leader, however, just shows criticism for the way it is being run.

2006-12-17 16:08:08 · answer #8 · answered by Anonymous · 1 1

No, because burning a flag isn't hurting anyone, and bashing George Bush is funny because he deserves it. It's called freedom of speach. Say what you want about George Bush, it's your right.
Death? This is one of the dumbest questions I've ever heard.
I don't think burning the flag is right though. I love my counrty and would never do that, I just don't like our leader.

lol like we need one more thing where the punishment is death.. frankly, there is already enough death going around. If someone doesnt like america, or what it stands for, its not terrorism. Now, if someone decides to, say, blow up a building and all the people inside it because of his feelings.. that IS terrorism. You need to get your facts straight before you start hanging people.
