This is a very common sense issue. Unfortunately, common sense is not very common among alot of the socialist,left-leaning people in our country. The most idiotic thing I have ever heard is that burning the American Flag is part of free speech. That may be so, but look at the message of this free speech. When you burn the flag, you are making a very clear statement that you hate America and all that it stands for. That there is something fundamentally wrong with our country and that you wish to burn our flag to show your contempt and disapproval in it. Then after you have done this act you hide behind the flag like a coward and say, "freedom of expression." This makes absolutely no sense. why do you burn the flag but still want to be protected by it's laws? Flag burning should most definitely be illegal, the same with spitting on soldiers or any other vile act meant to show a total hatred for fundamental American values. If you don't want it to be illegal, then you should not be able to sue me when I see you spit on a soldier or burn the flag and do a bit of my own free speech by grabbing you by your nappy hippy goatee, slapping you around like your father should have done, if you ever even met the guy, and forcing you to eat that flag you just burned or carrying the bags for that soldier you just spit on. Keep it up, you crazy freak liberals. The day is coming where the silent majority is going to get fed up and I wouldn't want to be wearing a Hillary '08 t-shirt on that day.

I'm not an American, but think that it is retarded how some of the people in other countries constantly burn the US flag then the very next day ask for a handout from the US.
I remember watching this guy being interviewed on TV and he was shouting that "America must be eradicated from the face of the earth" yet he had a Nike cap on? What a dumbass.

I don't think it should be illegal, there are way too many laws as it is. I also think that if a person is that dissatisfied with the country they live in, there are other options, like moving to somewhere where they can be happy. Just keep in mind, millions try coming to America every day to escape their unhappiness, stress, war, poverty, political persecution, etc. This is not such a bad country, but it seems like people love getting attention and flag burning will do just that.

No. It's a form of symbolic speech that's protected by the First Amendment. I thought the flag represented American ideals and not just the real estate between Canada and Mexico

Burning a flag should not be illegal. Freedom to demonstrate. I am a soldier just returning home from Iraq and I am happy that people have the all the freedoms that they have in the US that's what makes it so wonderful to live here. I don't agree with burning the flag but I agree with their right to the freedom to do so.

Yes, but in some cases where a flag is retired they burn it. It symbolizes an hanorable death. To burn a flag because you hate it is wrong in so many ways. I agree if you dont like it get out.

Flag burning of ANY flag is freedom of expression. Would I burn the US flag? no.. but i'll defend anyone's right to do it...
sorry if that makes some people uncomfortable... but freedom is what this country is all about.... even if we dont agree with some of the freedoms.
