When starting off as a flight attendant, what do most do when they aren't on-call?

Question

I know that when starting out, they don't make much money and only work as a reserve or an on-call. But granted they don't make much money when they first start, what kind of flexible jobs can they do in the meantime?

Also, does anyone know where are all the major hubs to start training?
