Check the classified ads in your local newspaper. You can usually find plenty of people who are giving kittens away for free ... probably because their cat had them and they don't want to keep them all. Make sure the kittens are old enough to be taken away from their mother and get them a vet appointment so they can get started on their shots. Animal shelters (the kill kind) usually sell unclaimed animals for pretty cheap, also. You can check out rescue shelters too ... all the animals that come from rescue shelters have been kept up to date on their shots and spayed or neutered, but they usually charge alot more (like in the neighborhood of $50 or $60) to cover the medical expenses.

The best place for you to get a cat is at an animal shelter. They need you to adopt cats from them especially when they get crowded. You will probably have to pay an $80 donation to the shelter but it usually includes all the shots they need to go home with you. Don't get sucked into adopting from a neighbor unless the cat has all of its shots and make sure it's documented in print from the vet. Also it is usually best to adopt a cat that is friendly towards you from inside the cage. Usually, when you are at the shelter looking, the cat that rubs against the bars and purrs and wants you to pet it is going to be a good cat. That being said always read the history that most shelters post on the cats cage to make sure there's not issues that you will have to attend to unless you feel you can handle it. Cats are pretty independent but they do need some care so keep that in mind as well and you should have a good friend whose affection is tough to get but once you do you'll have a friend for life.

I could have given you a cat a few months ago. We had to give her to the pound because we found out our son is allergic. You want a car too? What part of the car are you allergic to? You can rip out most parts of the interior and it will still run fine.

Rescue one. Maybe at an adoption center in your local pet store or even the pound. I strongly advise rescuing one though because there are so many cats that need good homes out there and you might just be able to provide the home that one needs.

Go to the SPCA or the animal shelter PLEASE!!! every cat that you get means you basically kill one or more in the animal shelters. how would you like to dumped by someone you love and then die a lonely death in a cold cage, if you are lucky enough to be taken in by a person to the shelter? And get two. they like company. And keep good care of them!

The vet office is good or look at grocery store bulletin boards. People give cats away all the time.
