Are there any working mother out there that still manage to breastfeed while working? I exclusivly pump becuse I work two jobs and feel I am loosing my milk. My baby is four months old and I really wanted to feed her breast milk for at least the recommended six months. Any tips? Help!

You sound just like I was when I was breastfeeding my daughter. Once I went back to work, my milk supply diminished. I pumped 3x a day at work and breastfed my daughter 3x a day at home. I breastfed her on weekends the times I was pumping at work. But the supply kept going down and down.

I contacted the lactation consultants at my hospital where I'd given birth.

They suggested Blessed Thistle and Fenugreek. Both need to be taken with a LOT of water, 4 times a day. They are expensive and can be purchased at a natural food store or a specialty vitamin store. But it was well worth it, because I got another 2 months of breastfeeding as a result.

Consult your doctor to be sure this is right for you, but it was the only thing that worked for me. It is apparently the combination of the two herbs that works. And I am NOT an herb person at all! I don't usually "do" herbs, but these were a godsend.

I ended up being able to breastfeed my daughter for 7 months, with supplementing with some formula mixed with the breastmilk I was pumping while I was at work.

Good luck!

I breast fed for a year while working and I had a very hard time producing milk. Brewer's Yeast really helped me, especially towards the end. You can also have a beer from time to time, it helps as well (hence Brewer's yeast). Try to get 3-4 Liters of Water a day too. Hope this helps! I feel your pain.

You should drink plenty of water & milk. Ppl say that by constantly pumping-out milk (either by pump or baby sucking from ur breast), the supply of milk will not run-out. But for me, it turned-out the other way. My milk supply only lasted for only 3 months despite pumping out during office hours. Anyway, it all depends on individual. My SIL can b.f. her son until he was 3yrs+.

If you are still pumping and the baby is still gaining weight then you should be OK but check with your doc or pediatrician. Also try a lactation consultant or La Leche League if there is one in your area.
Good luck.
