I've gone through that before, so I know exactly what's going on!

When you get a cyst, I know it can be the most painful thing in the world. But as soon as the cyst bursts, your reproductive system is back to normal. The reason why an ultrasound wasn't necessary was because the cyst isn't there anymore! If it already busted, there's nothing to look at! Make sense?

When the cyst bursts, it heals its own problem. The problem's gone and there's nothing to deal with anymore. It's very very common and the doctors are right, there's no reason to treat a cyst that isn't there anymore!

However, be careful. If another cyst comes back next month (about the same time of month in relation to your menstrual cycle), there's a problem! That means that the cysts are reoccurring, and they need to be treated. Only THEN will they do an ultrasound and put you on birth control. So be careful and watch out for next month.

Don't worry, what the doctors are saying is COMPLETELY normal! I had two doctors check me out when this happened, and another one or two when mine came back the next month. You've got absolutely nothing to worry about unless you get another one. And even then, birth control is a simple treatment and you'll be fine from then on!

If you need anything else, e-mail me! Good luck! :)

Ovarian cysts are very common and yes they can go away depending on size. Usually a doctor will send you to get an ultrasound, when complaints of pain that "could" be caused by a cyst. What type of health insurance do you have? HPO will make your doctor do as little as possible. Kind of like in your situation...she/he would only refer you for an ultrasound if she/he absolutely thought you needed one. Whatever the case is, you should go to another doctor. And yes birth control can be used to help prevent and reduce ovarian cysts.

Cysts are much more common than most people think. The majority of the time they just shrink on their own. Most docs wouldn't even consider removing the cyst unless you had a bigger problem. The main thing a doc will do, if anything, will be to put you on birth control because that can help shrink the cyst faster.

Sounds normal, cysts are common and can come and go. I had one and didn't even know it, it was discovered accidently by a CT scan that I had done for upper abdominal pain. If they become large and painful then they can operate and remove it but they try to avoid that. First they try birth control and pain meds. I wouldn't worry about it. If you don't trust the answer you received from your doctor you can always go to another GYN for a second opinion.

Its not uncommon to leave cysts. If they've already ruptured you probably have nothing to worry about. It doesn't sound like you trust what your Dr has told you so seek a 2nd opinion. PLEASE, if you do go to a new Dr, go to one that a friend or family member recommends. You shouldn't go to Dr's that you know nothing about.
I think that the BC would only be used if the cysts were creating some sort of side effects.

yes cysts are common i had one for 9 months till it ruptured my doctor wouldn't remove it on its own because no serious pain and it was fluid filled an ultrasound isn't necessary and birth control has nothing to do with cysts

There are more than one gynecologists. Find someone else if you need a second opinion. I am unsure what can be done if you had one and it burst. The pain is bad but it does go away. I had them several times and had surgery to remove them I believe with a laser.

You are right though they can make you miserable.
