There will never be a guaranteed way to win, but here are a few things that judges will be thinking about as they fill out the ballot:

a. Is the case topical? Unless the negative disproves this, assume it is. If not vote negative. DON'T USE YOUR OWN BIAS.

b. Inherency/Solvency Balancing. Balance how much of the problem can be solved by the affirmative proposal. If part of the problem remains, go on.

c. Significance/Disadvantages Balancing. Balance the gains expected with the affirmative system over the present system with any disadvantages the negative has proven will occur in the new system. If the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, vote affirmative. If not, vote negative.

Speed can also be an important aspect, but it's important that the speed does not interfere with the judge absorbing all the data being thrown at them.
Also be sure to watch your judge, and learn to read them. You'll figure out which are the more academic judges with whom you can put more information to, and then there are the "bus driver" judges who were just thrown into the room with no idea what is going on. Simplify things for these judges- they'll appreciate it.
Best of luck!!
