I think it's 40 million. But that could just be in Africa. I don't know what you mean about knowing someone and being scared to address the situation. There have been 25 million deaths in the past 25 years.

I dont know any that are living with AIDS, but I do know that it is an ongrowing problem, especially in the US. However, it mostly affects underdevloped countries bc these people are not provided with the proper sex education to teach them about safer methods of sex.

My half brother could very well be living with either HIV or full blown AIDS..he is gay and was last known living in Los Angeles..trying to make it as an actor , now in his late 60's he's 10 years older than I.

Officially its 35,000,000 (more by now) and that means that since 85% (estimate) are straight cases, 29,750,000 straight people have AIDS with 5,250,000 gay people also with the disease. A terrible, horrible disease.
