Ive had 3 kids. First 2 were non induced and a breeze comapred to the induced.
It took forever.
It seemed like to me that the contractions with the induced were alot smaller yet alot closer together. I never got a chance to relax and focus on something other that the pain.

I have also heard that being induced is more painful then going into labour on your own, but since I have only been induced I can't comment on that.
I can tell you that it is a good idea to induce labour if the baby is more than a week over due. There has been evidence that the placenta starts to break down, if you go over due a few weeks.
I also have big babies, but was lucky enough not to have the problems that you had. I would guess that it may be a good idea to induce you at maybe 38-39 weeks if you have had a normal and healthy pregnancy. The baby is just gaining weight at that point.
Also if you are going to be induced make the hospital staff turn up your Pitocin slowly, so that your labour comes on slowly like natural labour. I have heard that is why it feels more painful.
But like you said talk to your talk express your concerns. If they are good they will listen and answer any questions or concerns that you have.

I suppose it depends on the person, but I've heard from alot of other mothers that induction (via pitocin) is a bit more painful...causes stronger contractions. I've been through both and would have to say that the induction was much more painful...until I got my epidural. :) I think it's also normal for a dr to induce a little early when mom has a history of large babies, as not to have such a big baby and a difficult delivery. I think in your case, it would be wise to chose to induce early, because you have the option of pain meds to relieve the pain and won't have to worry so much about having a difficult delievery. Just my opinion! Good luck!!!

In my opinion its better to induce then end up in ICU again. Your dr should have already thought of this. He'll wanna wait until 37 weeks I'm sure. Becuz then you are full term all your baby does to 40 weeks is gain weight which obviously you don't want. My sister-in-law got induced becuz she wanted to have my neice at a time the whole family could be there. Then my sister got induced at 37 weeks becuz she had high blood pressure but they ended up rushing her in for a c-section becuz her body couldn't handle it. It was hurting the baby her blood pressure being so high. They didn't know if she would make it through te c-section and had her go ahead and sign a paper saying who would take the baby. It was really scary! But from what I could tell if was harder on my sister but she also had medical problems so...My sister-in-law just sat there calmly watching her soap waiting for time to push. She had an epidural though. My sister also had the epidural but she wasn't comfortable at all. She was in labor all day though. Hope that helps.

It is a good idea to induce labor if you expect a big baby. Your doctor should be recommending this to you, as well as when (how many weeks along) this would be appropriate. There is no need to worry about pain for the mother because an epideral will take care of that.

i was induced because i was in labor but the contractions were quite strong enough. it hurt a whole lot more than my non induced labor. and took longer i ended up with a c-section. not because of the induction. talk to your doctor if you have big babies a c- section might be safer. there is no dangers that i know of ask your doctor

I had my first two naturally and was induced with my third. I started labor the night before I was to be induced but they went ahead with the Pitocin anyway. It was so much worse. The contractions were right on top of each other, no time to recover.

i have heard that Pitocin makes the contractions extra severe also. My chum had her first evidently (no meds or some thing), and her 2d replaced into led to with Pitocin and she reported that being led to replaced into worse than going all organic. So i wager that's authentic.
