I thought it was an interesting story. It linked okay as a follow-up to the TV series, but they didn't include the guys with the blue gloves to explain who they were and they also changed part of the backstory.

In the movie they show Simon breaking River out of the facility that was altering her brain, but in the series River was busted out by a few select people with inside connections that Simon had to pay most of his fortune to.

I really liked the whole Reavers plot line. In the series they were little more than a convienient "Mysterious Space Boogey Men" to throw at the characters, but in the movie they actually explained their origins and made them a much more creepy and vicious enemy. My favorite part is when Serenity breaks through the nebula cloud surrounding Mr. Universe's hidden communications station, then the Alliance has the "HOLY S***!!!" moment when the entire Reaver armada pops through chasing the little Firefly. =D

It was unfortunate that Shepard Book got killed. I think they could have gone into more storylines using his mysterious high-level Alliance backgound. I didn't like that they killed off Wash (the pilot) he added a lot of humor to the character interactions and various scenes in the series and the movie.

If they make a sequel they need to have the guys with the blue gloves be the main enemy and explain what they're all about, then have River develop her mental abilities to take them on in the showdown at the end of the movie.

Plus they need to finally throw Mal & Inara together and have them get into an "official" relationship (maybe even married) instead of the tired love/hate bickering they always do.

Something like that is fine short-term, but it gets old constantly dragging it out, hell Han Solo & Princess Leia started out bickering and sniping at eachother (the first 1 1/2 movies of trilogy), but they eventually got together in the last half. That's what they need to do with these two.

I loved this movie, it's among my top five. I think the dialogue between Mal and Shepard was a bit boring but that's because I just really wanted to see more of River (she's my fav. character). Otherwise the movie was great and had a good mix of action/comedy/romance and other genres I can't think of.

I hope it has a sequal. Or Firefly gets revived. The former seems more probable though.

I never understood why this movie didn't do better in the box office. It's not bad at all. I enjoyed watching it, although I do feel that a couple of the actors were a bit dry in their performance.
