i'm trying to write a sonnet, and have a great back story, but i need it to be based on an actual life as part of the assignment. (shrug). I kind of want a name of a real historical figure who everyone thought was not going to succeed (due to his dubious male pro background) but was able to turn his life around and become someone famous and worth knowing.

Already tried to google search this but all i found were female pros.

Thanks in advance (don't worry though, if i can't find any actual historical figures, I probably will just change the subject)

You've checked out Cassanova and Don Juan, right?

Consider too, that from ancient history on, men have often seduced wealthy women to accomplish big things. Even Muhammad began as a livestock handler for a wealthy woman, whom he married and when she died he got all her wealth. Marrying a wealthy woman ought to count, and ought to broaden your search results. Check the queens who married, or those who courted them. Englishman Francis Drake got to do a lot at Queen Elizabeth (1)'s expense.
