This is a mixed list, depending upon what you're into.

"Into Dust"-Mazzy Star-So Tonight That I Might See- total bawl your eyes out song.

"Exit Music"-Radiohead-from the Romeo & Juliet (Baz Lhurmann) soundtrack and also on OK Computer.

"You Look so Fine"-Garbage-Version 2.0, This one's just so sad, real and beautiful.

"Symphony No 3 Opus 36"-Henryk Gorecki-Fantastic piece of music, often used in films.

"Gorecki"-Lamb-The Best of. An amazing track
"Gabriel"-Lamb-Another great one.

"Heartbeats"-Jose Gonzalez-cover version-really sweet.

"Schindlers List Theme"-John Williams-good for classical lovers.

"My December"-Linkin Park-How To Depress Yourself At Christmas :)

"Moonlight Sonata"-Beethoven-the worlds most amazing and simply perfect piano piece.

"Wish"-The Cure....basically anything by them is enough to want to grab a large bottle of something.

"Running to Stand Still"-U2-The Joshua Tree-when they do it right, there is no one better.

"The First Time"-U2-Zooropa and Best of 1990-2000.

"Theme to Harry's Game"- Bad Title, Great song in Irish.

"Song for Athene"-Cantillation Conducted by Anthony Walker. Classical choir music.

"The Scientist"-Coldplay

And now I'll let someone else have a go :D

The most sad/depressive song I've ever heard is "Suicidal Dream" by Silverchair. If you hear it, you won't feel like you're in such a bad position.

"Lucky" by Radiohead, "Disarm" by the Smashing Pumpkins, and "Mad World" by Gary Jules and Michael Andrews (the song played at the end of Donnie Darko). Please download or listen to those songs some other way as soon as you can, because I guarantee that after listening to them you will pick my answer as the best.
