If you're taking Computer Science, you'll need to get very familiar with Unix. You should look into getting a Macbook http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=A4791B5D&nclm=MacBook, otherwise get one that you can install Linux on.
