The time zone in Manila is usually different from the callers (US, UK) that they service, as such not all call center agents are able to adjust to that.
Stress from handling complaints and too strong an airconditioning.
Social cost of having not much of a life as majority of your loved ones, family and friends are at work when you go home.

I think it has something to do with the shifting schedules (sleeping during the day when the sun is shining; awake during the night just like nocturnal animals).
Maybe it could be the stress as well, especially in dealing with customers who have different culture and behaviour.

basically because of the work hours. its so stressing having to be awake on time that you should be sleeping. and when you got home to supposedly sleep, others are wide awake and u cant barely have a quality time to relax.
plus also the fact that they have to sit and encode all night long, the radiation of their computer also adds.
but the thing is, though its a tough job, it gives them a great salary. so who minds being tired and sick. esp here that money really matters, or else die of hunger.

It is simply because their body isn't used to it.
it takes time to adjust working 8 hrs facing the computer most especially in the night shift.

their bodies aren't used to that kind of lifestyle. it's not easy to maintain a healthy body if one gets a few hours of sleep everyday, they don't even have enough time to eat nor to have a well balanced diet because of the kind of job they have.

I don't think they're really sick or ill. Maybe, they just want to use up their sick days as "rest" days.
