I had to reinstall windows on my hard drive. I wanted a fresh install so I formated the drive. Well now I can't find the diver needed for my Ethernet card.

"What brand is it?" You may ask. Well I don't know. It is built into my mother board with is an Aopen brand. I don't have the software that came with it.

The device manager just shows "Ethernet controller" with a big yellow question mark out beside it.

Is there a way to detect the Ethernet controller brand/model?

Go to the Aopen web site go into the support area find the downloads page for your motherboard and the drivers for all the integrated components are all there including the onboard network.

this is conceivable which you're hosed in the mean time, i glanced on the Acer website and the maximum recent drivers there for you computing gadget are XP, 32-bit. this might properly be a private computing gadget gadget? bypass purchase a PCI NIC and be completed with it for now. you ought to be alble to p.c.. up a notably stable one for $20. Or do somewhat greater detective paintings and be certain who made the motherboard/internet and bypass to their website for drivers extremely than Acer.

did you reinstall your motherboard drivers as well? the best thing to do would be to go the motherboard's website and download the drivers for it (in case you don't have the installation cd that came with it anymore).

Contact the maker of the mother board unless you can find the information you need from the mother board maker's website.
