we have a small choir in a church. one person who cant sing a note wants to join us-- he is real bad at trying to sing .it is real embarising when people make comments about how bad we were. How can we gently let this person know they are not helping us-- and we would be so much better without them. we don't want to hurt them. We have no director .

Ahh i had the same problem with my band once. I made really good friends with a guy. And he wanted to be a singer in the band and i said yea sure. And then after realizing how bad he was i had no idea how to tell him i didnt want him to sing for us. But i eventually just told him i was looking for a different style voice and that worked. Maybe you should just tell him the truth and offer him like a little job that assist's the choir in some way.

Get some bells and see if he would like to be in charge of them. I know several churches that use bells, and I also know several people that were once in choir that find the bells a lot more fun to do.

Honesty is the best way to go. As long as you come from love, and be kind in words he/she will understand and learn to accept the reality.
