Mine normally lasts 3-4days, and it's been ongoing for the past 2 weeks, with major clots (sorry, gross) in the past 2 days or so. I don't want to call the doc for nothing, but this is very odd.

You should definitely get that checked out. You may have a ruptured cyst, endometriosis, or possibly something wrong with your thyroid gland. If you're sexually active it might be a tubal pregnancy or miscarriage.

yes, thats bordering on extreme. Especially if your periods usually only last 3-4 days. When it comes to your feminine health don't ever be hesitant to call your doctor. It's better to be safe than sorry. Chances are that you just have a bad bladder infection. I'm prone to those and that is one of the symptoms I get. I get the bladder infections so easily that I can't take baths at all, only showers. And I usually don't even notice the pain associated them. When I get extra periods or clotting is the only time I can tell that I have them. Better safe than sorry. see ur doc.

I've had this problem before too. The clots are normal and so is a period that lasts up to four weeks. It can happen and it doesn't matter if you're on or off birth control.

Hi I found an answer to your question:

My gynecologist explains clots to me as follows: Blood is pushed out of your uterus when the uterus contracts (you don't necessarily feel these contractions, but when they are strong, you feel them as cramps). The uterus releases "anti-coagulants" during menstruation. These are supposed to keep the blood from clotting up as it passes from the uterus to the vagina, thus making the whole bleeding process easier.

But if you have days of heavy cramps and heavy bleeding, you may pass dark, chunky clots of blood. On such days your contractions are so fast and so strong that the blood gets forced out before the anti-coagulants have time to take effect. So the blood clots. And you pass big chunky gobs of stuff.

If the clots you are passing are larger than, say, a quarter, you might want to ask your doctor about it, because that indicates that your periods are quite heavy, and they might want to check for fibroids (benign tumors).

i would contact your gyn dr,,,, he may want you to come in now, or wait a while longer, the only time i had this, i had a hormone imbalance, that left my body stuck in the period phase,,,i had a two week long period,, then next time a three week long one,,,,,,, there is a medicine you take for it,,, to clear it up,,, i dont remember having clots with it though
another thing, is it possible that you had gotten pregnant, and had a spontaneous miscarriage? if those happen in the first month, its often hard to tell the difference in a regular period

that happened to me. mine was so bad that it didnt stop. i had to get a d & c. if you eat alot of refined sugar and simple carbohydrates it coud cause your hormones to go out of wack. try to eat more veggies and protein and make sure that your carbs are the healthy ones like oatmeal, whole wheat, brown rice, bran, spelt, beans, and fruits. it will take a few months or a litttle longer to adjust after changing your diet. that is the most common problem is a poor diet. but it could be something different. you should see your doctor because two weeks it a while. i did it for three weeks and had to be hospitalized my hemoglobins were dangerously low. i felt like i was not getting enough oxygen because i was losing too many of my red blood cells which is needed to carry oxygen throughout your body. hope this helps. oh yea take plenty of iron

You should see a doc It may be nothing but better to be safe. If this is not normal for you you have cause for concern.

You should go see your ob-gyn soon. It´s not normal for a period to last for weeks. Good luck.
