I don't know what State you reside in, but in Ohio You must make an appointment with the Warden and then it will be taken before a Board. Usually you will be granted a lawyer from the State to start divorce proceedings. These requests are very common.

unfortunatly(in my case),yes an inmate can file for divorce.he can talk to his consulor to find out when to speak to a representor to take care of the divorce.the cost for a Tennessee inmate to get a divorce is somewhere around $20.00,takes up to about 3 months to be final.

just cause he is in jail doesn't mean he cant file for divorce. and it sounds to me if he needs papers signed its a disillusion. if the papers don't get signed it will turn out to be a huge divorce fight.

Yes, if they have the right to marry in jail then they have the right to divorce as well. he needs to find legal counsel or if he has access to the internet you can find programs for divorce there as well, he'll just need to check with a c/o or the warden to see how they will allow him to proceed

He sure can. All he needs to do is tell them he needs an attorney and one will be provided.
