In general, hurricanes are more likely to occur and more destructive than tsunamis, just like Katrina.

But, tsunamis, when in its highest peak, can devastate more people than the greatest tsunami.

So for me, they're destructively equal.

The tsunami, no doubt, that was impressively devastating. The most devastating thing about Katrina (besides the natural disaster itself of course) was the late reaction of our beloved president, that caused those people to suffer in an even more prolonged way.

Both were catastrophic as human lives were lost. But to many Americans Katrina was such a shock because it was a disaster that struck on American soil. Americans have been fortunate not have war or constant disaster in their own back yard for so long. Some of us that are from third world countries have seen such devastation and loss of huma nlife on a regular basis.

I too saw the HBO special and it was very sad. It makes you think how fortunate you are.

Of course its the tsunami, nealy half a million people lost lives, and many millions lost home in a dozen countries....

Hurricane Katrina was terrible but not to the above extent. Only think It devestated was Americans ego, and made them realise that they cannot stop anything with their super powers.....

Tsunami deaths--294,000
Katrina deaths--1,400

Tsunami property damage--$30 billion
Katrina property damage--$125 billion

So the tsunami was more devastating in terms of human lives, Katrina in terms of property.

organic failures take place by making use of the forces of nature. So except he has magic powers than no to the Tsunami and typhoon. Th 9/11 would be debated persistently yet im ninety 9.9999% beneficial that he did no longer

They both were equally devasting but I feel Americans should be able to realte to Katrina because it hit home. It's like nobody really cares about what goes on at home. This country scrambled to give money to those nations overseas but won't take care of its own. That's like hiring a mechanic who can't get his car to run. It doesn't make sense. Take care of home first!
