i just came from the middle east to Canada montreal! it's a huge difference for me ofcourse, esp. the winter here.. ive never experienced the below degrees :p -30 -25 !! i really cant believe how they manage. but anyway the question is, the coats that they wear in winter, is polar coats better and warmer than "duvet(in french)" coats? which material do u think is the best for the winter in canada? thnx:)

Hi!
I'm a Montrealer...and don't worry...it becomes cold...but we do survive every year! I would say a Duvet coat is very nice and warm, that would be my first choice, but I think they can get expensive. A polar coat is also warm but be sure that the exterior is very think and windblocking...
What I wear is a sheep skin coat (I have a friend that had a lether coat factory...so he sold me this saying it was the best!...effectively the skin is very think and I wear a t-shirt underneat it all winter long!!!)
So, many choices for you...
Here are some good places I think you should check out:
My friend's place...if you want SheepSkin...is: Santos Leather Manifacturer..they are at 9875 St-Michel street...but if you want a place downtown any leather coat store will have those...be sure to pick a THICK one...
For a nice big winter coat you'll be sure you won't be cold go to Kanuk on Rachel St. just east of St-Denis...they have all the warmest coats and they are made here in Montreal...so they kinda know what we need...you can check out their web site at :
http://www.kanuk.com/~kanuk/default_e.html
there you go! Have a nice winter!

These seemed to work well for me when I was there, they are called CANADIAN WINTER PARKA or the N3B PARKA, actually any WINTER PARKA would be ok, but since my dad was in the army we used to always buy from the army stores. Ive included a link for you.
