i think ignorance hides you from the recognition of evil, but it also prevents you from trully experiencing the good. the bliss of ignorance seems to be a happiness based in mediocirity or some sort of middle ground between a friend and an enemy. i dont know about you, but in my life i have little room for casual acquiantances.

Not because you don't recognize my enemies, that has nothing to do with it. It's because you don't recognize your short comings, and your mistakes. You can blame the world for your problems and be content with the fact that you've done nothing wrong. That's what makes it bliss.

If ignorance is bliss, there should be more happy people in the world.

Ignorance is considered bliss because most people are jealous of intelligent people and want to suggest that the intelligent ones are not as happy as the ignorant ones.
It's good old-fashioned American bigotry. Very intelligent people are just as likely to be either happy or sad as unintelligent people.
Bigots often speak in unverifiable cliches such as "ignorance is bliss" because there is absolutely no substance in their beliefs.

no ignorance is not bliss because it is not something one has to tolerate and put up with and neither is it something that should be condoned. ignorance is in fact a negative quality for a person to have as by being ignorant implies that you don't care about anyone else but yourself

no, you will recognise your enemies, but you will think you are better than them in every way and you will feel like you are on top of the world. you wont be able to see the areas that your enemy is better than you and improve yourself. if you spend all of your time thinking about how to improve yourself, you wont be happy because you will realize that improving yourself will never end no matter how much time you put into it.
ignorance is bliss because you dont worry about anything but yourself and how to make yourself feel better. however it is also going to hurt you in your social life in most cases, because our society is based on your ability to have relationships with other people, and most other people dont care too much about you.
