What breed is the dog and how old is it? Why was it after your dad?

Anytime a dog bites a human without provocation is a serious problem. If there was nothing to provoke the attack you need to consider serious training and talking with your vet. You should also consider putting this dog down. No one wants to put a healthy dog down, but if it bites a child and causes permanent damage or death then think of how that would be, not worth it.

Kennel your dog and bring it to the vet in the morning for an exam and explain to the vet exactly what happened. Your vet should be able to tell you if this could happen again.
