It's a designer purse, it cost $575. I don't spend money like this very often, I'm a woman & love purses (as much as any other woman). I am a good person & work hard. My husband doesn't want to buy it for me because he thinks it's too much money for a "purse". Nothing bad, he just thinks it's over priced. What to do?

Has your husband ever spent a large amount of money on something he wanted? There must be something he wants that he knows is a bit more expensive than he should spend--but he still wants it. Why don't you make a deal with him--you spend your money frivolously on one item and he can spend the same amt on something he wants that is overpriced--because, hey, life is short and difficult and the moments for an impulsive bit of fun are rare and special--what's the point of anything if you are always good and careful and smart with your money? Every once in a while--indulge a desire and have fun with it. Seriously--why not? If it's not going to put you in the poor house, there's no real reason not to buy your purse. You work hard. You say so, yourself. You deserve a treat now and then. So treat yourself and enjoy your purse! When you are 99 yrs old, you'll look back at this time and say to yourself, "I'm so glad I bought that purse while I was young and could enjoy owning it."
Right? So go for it. Take really good care of it for a week, save the receipt, and if you genuinely regret the impulse purchase, you can always return it.
It's always the things we DON'T do that we regret the most.

If you buy it will it cause problems with your husband? If so, don't buy it. Can you afford it without charging or making it tight? Is it a classic purse that you will carry for years to come or is it trendy and will go out of style next season? Are you someone that will be happy to carry the same purse for years or do you like to change often? You might want to consider some of the really good "look alikes" that could save you half or more.

I love purses just as much as the next girl, but I think spending $575 on a purse just because its "designer" is alittle crazy. I find super cute stuff at like Target, and Belks all the time! lol
Good luck!

Okay for starters if you change purses not a good idea. But if you manage to change your purse once every year it might be a good investment. Why don't you try searching ebay or ebags for the same designer purse at a fraction of the cost. Or if you want try Bag, Borrow or Steal. The website is here:

I spent $20 on a really really nice purse I bought at a street fair in New York in September. Two people have told me it looks like it might cost over $200. This makes me happy because I saved a bundle.

it is over priced, you can put that money on other things such as cruise or a trip to Australia. Bags are bags, I have bought my bags all designer ones on my trip to China, I bought burberry, prada, Dior for $10 each and look just like the originals in Nordstrom. On my trip to Philippines, I bought Channel, Ferragamo, Fendi, Gucci, Versacci for $20- 30 each. All of these bags has matching wallets, sunglasses. Go overseas instead of buying purses

Well! I know how u feel!! And i love pUrses too!! NOW! if all of your bills are paid and your family has everything that they need. Then u should talk to ur husband and if he is OK with you getting the purse then i think you should go for it.But if u think u are going to feel guilty about it later then don't do it.

No, I think you should. I think I should spluge. Like you said, you work hard for your money. I recently got a Louis Vuitton for $900, and i normally dont splurge. But also, it depends on the brand. If it is Gucci, Prada, Chanel, or something like that, go for it. However, if it is like a coach, be careful, because you can find them on sale. I heard recently about DSW shoes. It sells Brand name purses and shoes, and nothing is over 300! (brands such as-Gucci, Coach, Prada, Nike, and on and on. I hope you figure out what to do. Good luck!

i agree with the first girl, but if you have the money and its a classic that will never go out of style and you really love it, maybee its a good investment piece. otherwise, go to down town LA and get a 300 dollar coach purse for twenty bucks, and yes its real, just blackmarketed, no big deal, right? nobody will ever know......

If you really love it, and you can really afford it, I don't see why it's a problem. I've spent that much on a purse before, but it was one that I love. I still love it and use it and keep it in great shape. And I didn't go into debt for it.
