Life – it has a meaning and loving purpose - you just have to find your purpose and live it.

I believe every person is here for a definite purpose. Each person is special and valuable; that refers to me, you, your family, friends, in fact everybody! There is a loving plan for each of our lives here on earth and there is no such thing as coincidence. I don't believe that anything in life happens by chance and that every aspect of our lives points to something deeper.

You need to decide now to live for God rather than for yourself. You spend your life on Earth preparing yourself (as best you can) for death. I don't see death as a scary, negative experience, but birth into a bliss filled eternal life with God. I believe that this is something you have to consciously choose or not during your life on earth.

The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are true children of an infinitely loving and merciful God, to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator, and to fulfill those responsibilities. Each of us is called to affirm, accept and develop the talents God has given us. -

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

Yes ,everybody in this world have a purpose.sometimes they might not recognise that by themselves, but they live due to one or the reason. In fact every person is born in this world for a purpose. But the truth is that only some fulfil it,others do not even recognise that. Its when people lose their urge 4 living ,their purpose 4 living, they suicide.u live in this world 4 u r niece.i live in this world 4 studying ,to become a doctor, earn money & live 4 the poor & look after my parents.i am a student of 12th std.sometimes when i get low marks,i loose my hope ,& i feel that i cannot attain my purpose ,& i even feel that i shouldnt be living in this world.it happens rarely. But it do proves that everybody has a purpose in their life & they live only 4 it.

I think we all have purposes, but I don't think they're glamorous or even interesting to us. I don't think I need to really be aware of what my purpose is either. If I'm meant to do something, then I'll do it naturally. It requires no intervention on my part. I also think it's possible to actually know your purpose. You live, and when you're dead your life is complete, and you can easily go back and look at what somebody did, and sort of get an idea of what their purpose was. I also think it's impossible to know what your purpose is exactly. What if we all die in a world-wide catastrophe? Then what? So I don't put much stock in that stuff.

Everyone has a purpose. Whether its destiny or your choice you plan and calculate what it is. For good or for bad that choice is freely made. We all have a purpose, some just forget to take advantage of this little thing called life!

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

If your sole purpose in life is your own "happiness," I don't think you can get there.

...and usually, when you are useful, honorable, show compassion and make a difference in someone else's life, you, inturn, become happy. (Cheesy but true)

MY "purpose" in life... to leave an imprint (be it big or small) in the lives of those I love and those I meet. If it's not something "life-altering," I would at least like to walk away with the ability to make someone smile... or think...

As with your situation, you may think you may not have the "greatest" life, but seeings as you have made someone else's life, your purpose... and hopefully to make her happy, you, inturn will be happy too. I think that's great.

I luv your answer...

My situation is very similar. I have a 13 year old nephew, whose parents should never have been parents. He is such a wonderful young man, but doesn't deserve the life he has. We are very close and he relys on me for everything.

I think my purpose in life is to make sure my nephew becomes a good, intelligent, successful man, and lives up to the potential he has.

You have an awesome purpose in life. The best thing we can do in this life is care for others just as you are caring for your niece. What a great demonstration of love. Thanks for sharing your purpose in life...you have inspired me. I feel the same...we all have a purpose.
