Because there isn't any god.

Did you think that slogan was placed on our money by magic?

Our USA founders were very spiritual individuals along with being intelligent. No where in our Constitution or Bill of Rights is there any mention that religion, or spirituality should be separate from the government. The common belief of a Separation of church and state is a myth. It was a concept invented by a Supreme Court decision, in the middle 1900's I think. Can't remember the case or date but sure it could be easily found. Our founding fathers would be opposed to such a concept.

The idea of trusting God was natural to them. Whether you trust in God or not is a personal decision. We all enjoy spending the money without thought of whether we trust God or not.

Also, on the one dollar bill is another religious symbol, the Masonic pyramid with the third eye at the top. This is a universal symbol of spirituality in many religions. The Masons were and are a Christan organization but originally adopted Eastern mystical philosophies. Most of our founding fathers belonged to the Masonic Order.

When you say "we", I do not know who you are speaking of, because I do. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST was placed on United States coins largely because of the increased religious sentiment existing during the Civil War. Secretary of the Treasury Salmon P. Chase received many appeals from devout persons throughout the country, urging that the United States recognize the Deity on United States coins. If you are having trouble with trusting in God, see your religious authority of choice, or just sit down and read the bible a bit.

Our money shouldn't say "In God We Trust" because there are many people in America that do not believe in God and that is their right. "Freedom of Religion" means ALL religion and Americans need to quit trying to cram Christianity down everyone's throat. Also, in response to the answer above, most of our founding fathers were Deist and they are the ones that wanted to start a country with freedom of religion. Any intelligent person knows the importance of seperation of church and state.

good question. although the major religion in America is christianity of some form or another, most people do not act very religious. this just furthers my fury at businesses. all these businesses handle money that say "in god we trust" yet they dont allow their employees to wish the customer a merry christmas. ive never met anyone in my entire life that got offended when wished a merry christmas. im not saying that they dont exist, but they do live in america. if they dont like the christian holiday then why are they perfectly content handling money that refers to the same god.

i think its mostly because people dont stop to read the money. to most people, money is just power or privilege. which is wrong.

Yes, but it doesn't say in which god we are to trust.

back when the seal printed on our money was first made way back a long time ago, our nation was still a place where religion had a huge impact on the way people lived there lives. Now it may seem foolish to have In GOd we Trust printed on our money but God once was the United States

I trust God.

Because if you put your trust in god, nothing will get done. The word god is a metaphor for inner self. If you want to trust something look within yourself.

most people can't because they think that trusting in God can hurt them or make them vulnerable. It is hard for a person to completely trust someone right next to them, in the flesh and blood, it's even harder to trust some one not visable or touchable.
