Most vets recommend 6 months - male or female, but some vets do puppies who are much younger than that. You'd need to check with your own vet to find out his preference.

In the past, vets have recommended spaying/neutering for dogs at least six months old. However, nowadays, vets are able to spay and neuter pets any time after eight weeks of age.

So, typically any age after 8-12 weeks, although many people wait till around 4 months or so. If the dog is a female, it's best to get her spayed before her first heat cycle (anywhere between 8 to 12 months).

Most vets recommend a dog be at least 3 months and 4-5 pounds before neutering or spaying. Depending on your animals physical stature though, some vets like to let them mature more than that so they can handle the surgery as well as possible. Also, some urinary issues, especially in females, are helped by allowing them to go through a heat cycle. If you have specific questions I would speak to your own vet.

4-6 months is the earliest most vets will do the surgery. I wouldn't have it done any earlier than 6 months but the earlier the better. A younger dog will have a lot less complications and also have better results behaviorly.

Most vets recommend you get pets spayed or neutered before they reach sexual maturity, which is about 6 months. My vet always does it at 5 months. Getting them fixed before 6 months keeps them from getting many cancers.

Our vet recommended before 6 months of age, before sexual maturity hits. My puppy will be 14 weeks old on Wednesday and she is scheduled for her spay surgery on Decemeber 28th.

It is best to get your dog spayed/neutered before it's first heat, but many people do it at any age. If they want to breed a litter then they'll wait.

Good for you for being a responsible dog owner.

Atleast 3 months and has to weigh more than 3 pounds. The younger they are, the better it will be on them. Good luck.
