You might want to go through Ebay. Make sure you are getting the right size (consult http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/sm-hockey-goalie-equipment-buyers-guide--bg-222884.html for how to measur). I got my equipment through Ebay and I don't think I spent just over $400 for everything. Got my goalie stick at Play it Again.

Other than that it really comes down to what equipment works best for you. You might want to consult some goalies and find out (especially ones of similar size to you) if they'll let you don the pads for a stick time session to find out if they feel right. Other than that I would go with what others have said on here. I know Vic and Brian are pads that some goalies I've played with have liked. My pads are TPS and they seem to work for me but they might now work for you.

One thing to consider though from people who answer you is what kind of goalie are you. If you are someone who is not real good with close rebounds you may want pads the are very reflective and give up long rebounds. Normally they would not be good but if you are someone who gets scored on in close because you can't control rebounds off pads that deaden the puck then those types of pads might not be for you.

The key is the pads have to be right for you and don't get caught in the mistake of buying pads just because some NHL goalie wears them.

Um most people will like Vaughn but i love CCM . i just got a pair of CCM vector and there great. I don't suggest Bauer or eagle because the butterfly is hard to do on them.

CCM, Koho and Vaughn. All really good. CCM probably has a bit of an edge over the other two.
