Hello, I am in charge of the insects, and spiders in my department at our zoo. When I was younger I used to do studies with brown recluses( fiddleback). They can live weeks without food or water. Black Widow's can range depending on their age, whether they are pregnant..or their overal health. a young spider generally dies without a food source a couple times a week. But spiders aare very diverse. So one may live a couple days, while another may live a couple years. So I hope that helps but , why are you keeping a spider for that long without feeding it, what type is it? Anyways if its a regualr spider, and you got it from outside, just let it go, save yourself the worry, judst let it go, and if its not native, then take it to a pet store.

i reckon you it is a tarantula? that is not at all surprising that it can be a month or more without food.

i dont know why it had no meal -

a) no harm if adult tarantula just didint get any food for a month for some reason or other. like when you go on holiday it is better to give just a little food, not swarms of crickets that could either die and rot in the terrarium or nibble at the tarantulas leg.

b) if it decided on its own not to eat any more it may mean it is too old and "wants" to die. the belly will shrink eventually and the critter dies, we must all die when time is up. or it could mean the place is too cold and it turned its metabolism down - put it somewhere warmer, then

anyway, say hallo and happy christmas to it from me :)

I've had a spider (not sure what kind) that keeps building a web in my car. I can't find it and have tried, to no avail, to vacuum it but the web keeps re-appearing. It's been for several months now! I'm afraid of spiders and this is driving me nuts! Any suggestions?

And you have a pet spider?
And you don't feed or water it?
And you want to know how long it will be till it croaks?
And why, exactly?
The answer is this: it will eat you tonight, and I think you deserve it.
