Im a very new driver. I want to go to Exxon to fill up my car with Unleaded gas with 87 octane using my credit.. can you teach me step-by-step how I operate the fuel pump?
I tried to do it but it charged me 61 cents and didnt fill my car's tank? These are the steps I took:
I inserted and removed my credit card
pressed debit and entered my pin
pressed 87 octane
removed the pump
and started fueling.
But it didnt work, it charged me 61 cents

What did I miss?

chances are you squeezed the lever too much. some pumps have a shut off that prevents you from pulling the lever all the way up. this is to prevent you from tying a cloth around the pump and going to the bathroom, only to come back and have gasoline spilling all over the ground. squeeze it gently next time, don't pull all the way up. otherwise, you did everything right.

There are some pumps that you have to insert the nozzle all the way in and not let up on it. If you do the pump will shut off ( it will restart if you reinsert again ) . Its some kind of fumes recovery system. Theres a Shell station here that has that and I no longer go there. Its a pain for me. I cant even imagine a woman having to push with that much force for that long. Try another station that has a better made recovery system.

i don't think of it extremely is why they have the sign in. i think of it extremely is because of the fact stupid human beings shouldn't communicate on their cellular telephones whilst they're pumping gas, or they could be distracted and reason a fire.. HAHA. additionally, I heard that the sign from making use of the cellular telephone can mess with the kit on the gas station, and would injury it, yet i don't comprehend if it extremely is actual or not.

Did you have the nozzle inserted as far as it would go? Are you driving a Saab? You did everything that I do.

is this real? did you HOLD/pull the lever while you had it inserted into your tank?

doesn't sound like it....otherwise it would cost more than 61 cents!

It seems to me like it was the gas station that had a mistake or malfunction
