I suggest just a plain, unscented, hypoallergenic lotion, like cetaphil. Aftershaves tend to contain alcohol, which burns, and dry and irritate the skin. If you have sensitive skin, a lotion with 5% benzocaine reduces the pain and itching.

i also tried cetaphil (non soap cleanser) and it reduces the itch, sting and discomfort after shaving. i used to get razor burn. and i think it helped to reduce it.
