My brother is 12 and he loves to read but he's incredibly picky. He really likes Harry Potter and funny books like Dear Dumb Diary, etc.
He hates Pendragon but he likes Raven's Gate and anything by Garth Nix (but he's read all of those).
What books should I get him????

OK, I've decided not to get him a fantasy book and go more towards the funny spectrum

For a funny fantasy book try Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan.

This isn't a fantasy book but you should definitely get his "The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole: Aged 13 3/4" by Sue Townsend cos that one's funny beyond belief, and I'm sure he'll absolutely love it.

As a huge fan of books myself, I would always prefer the giftcard/certificate option. That way I can get exactly what I want. You might include some of the recommendations given here, though. Maybe type them up and print them out- that way he could have some ideas about what to use the card for but could get exactly what he wants.

I have to agree with Rainchase. Although personally, I prefer the Elenium and the Tamuli trilogies by Eddings. But any of the Eddings series would be perfect.
