Dont use nail polish that is real old, or clumpy nail polish, or thick nail polish. Chuck it. Or if its getting to that point but still kinda good, get some nail polish thinner. When painting your nails have q-tips near by, so when you get some polish on you, dip the q-tip into nail polish remover and gently and carefully get the polish off without getting the remover on the polished nail. Use a bottom coat, or a top coat if you want. Usually we do it with three strokes a nail then move onto the next. Then when one hands done you move on to the other. You really dont have to wait for a long period of time. Thats how we were taught in cosmo. Thats how I do nails. To me thats make its weird... like putting wet nail polish onto a dry thin coat of polish. Its not really hard... sometimes it depends what kind of nails you have. Like if you have a short nail bed, and short finger nails... yeah its gonna be harder to do, but you have to be careful. It doesnt take skill to put on nail polish, but sometimes you have to know what you're dealing with.

The way I do it is I only use 3 strokes per nail. One right down the center of the nail and then one on each side of that center stroke. It will take time and, if you get any on your skin, have a Kleenex standing by to rub it off before it dries.

Once you have the first coat on, let it dry for at least 10 minutes before you apply a second coat or a clear coat. Also, if your nail polish is old and has separated, go and buy some new stuff because it's past it's expiry date.

Have someone help in your home. If you can't try wetting a qutip with nail polish remover before start for when you get it on your skin you can quick get to sleep. Also try putting on a clear coat before and after the color.
