Someone told me that the gameboy advance was "on it's way out" and that the nintendo ds is "taking over". This was of course, after I'd bought the gb for my son for christmas. Is this true, and if so, should I return the gb and get the ds? TIA

I bought my son a GameCube for his big Christmas gift this year and he's had a GameBoy since last year and he is 6 1/2. I started him out with the GameBoy so that he could get used to it and since it was his first real game I wanted to start out small to see how he would do. I almost bought him the DS for his birthday, but then I just didn't. Now with the GameCube it has the equipment so that I can hook up the GameBoy and use it with the Cube and now I don't have to buy games all over again.

id go with the gamboy for him. the DS is nice but if the kid is 5 id get the gb. if he drops the DS hard enough its gone. the GB is sturdy. ( if droped mine plenty of times) and if he pushes to hard with the touch screen it could permenetly damage the screen. plus the GB is cheaper. Maybe in a year or two you can get him the DS because it plays all GB games. i actually bought the DS when it came out and i returned it because i was like.. " well this is really nothing special its just a game boy with two sreens ".......go with the GB

I would get the ds because he might not be able to play ds games but it also plays gameboy advance games. so when they stop making gba games you can get ds games.

keep the Gameboy advance it may be on its way out but games will still be out for years to come and used ones will be here for decades he's only five and a double screen just means you can loose the pen and render it useless
