For example, "as blind as a bat" makes little sense, seeing as bats aren't blind.

It really depends on the species but most of them have very poor eyesight and depend on other senses, which is mainly their hearing! but there have been a few mentioned that has quite good eyesight!! hope this helps:)

Sorry to burst every bodies bubble, but most bats can actually see quite well. They do rely more on their echolocation however as it gives them a more precise location of prey. Bats are NOT blind, if they were...why on earth would they have EYES. That is just an old saying.

ok, bats have very bad eyesight, they use sonar waves(or sound waves), and screetches that bounce off their soroundings, there was this kid on the news a while ago, who is blind, he make sthis clicking noise with his mouth and it bouces off the things around him and he knows what pretty much everything is

NO THEY HAVE POOR EYESIGHT...THEY HEAR AND TRAVEL THROUGH SONAR..THATS WHY THERE EARS ARE BIG...TO MAKE UP FOR THERE POOR EYESIGHT
