The others who responded that the body of believers are "the church" are correct according to the Bible. The building we gather in is just a building, that's why we say we are going to church, not going to THE church.

The believers are referred to as the body of Christ(the church).
Of course the building is just a place that worshippers gather.

The Church is the body of believers. And yes, there are some who are led by the corrupt. But this is just like our life overall, the reason evil people seem to prosper is this:
Why should the Enemy, Satan, attack those eveil people and create struggles for them?
Those with the greatest struggles and refuse to give in, often enjoy a journey into a wonderful destiny.
Gods peace to you all.

Jesus didn't have a building to meet in. (He didn't always teach in the temple. Sometimes it was a boat or hillside.) So I doubt it would be the building. I don't know what you mean by collective soul. I think we each have one of those.
