I had my sis ter open up my computer to clean out all the dust from inside (i believe that she used an air be pump to do it)! she disconnected some things and reconnected them, then when i tried tunring on my computer it would sound like it was working but the power light wasnt coming on and nothing was coming up on the monitor! After that i fooled around with it for awhile making sure everything was in the right place, i gave up tring to get it to work!

later on my sister got a new computer for her self and i decied to fool around with her old one by switching out her hard drive for mine. when i turn on the computer it loads up and get to the screen asking if you want to go into safe mode, last working config., etc. i tried all of them and every time i choose one the computer will restart and start the process over again

Since you have switched the hard drive, understand the the HD has in it software installed for the hardware the old computer had. The mother board, processoer and other pheripharals may differ, hence it is not recommended, and may not work most of the times.

What you can do, if you want to retreive the data from your old PC is to use its HD as a secondary HD and then you can access the files. Or if you have paritions already in the old one, and if you are really sure, u can reinstall the OS with the old HD, without deleting the old files.

The OS on your sister's old hard drive must be Windows 2000 or XP.

Why did I know? Because that's what XP and 2000 do when you change the hard drives around with computers (Vista does that tooo) It's apparently an anti-piracy measure....

The way to fix this is simple- you need to perform a "Repair Installation" of windows xP or 2000. Simply pop in your OS installation CD, wait a hell of a long time for it to load, then continue onto "proceed to installation of windows" or something like that. (I don't know exactly what it was called.) Then, you will find your XP or 2000 installation listed on a list, so select that and press "r" to start the repair process.

After the repair, be sure to do a complte update of your computer because all of the updates will be reverted. But, your programs will remain intact.

Good Luck!!!!!

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
