casualty (INJURED)
noun [C]
a person injured or killed in a serious accident or war:
While it is difficult to compare evil, Stalin has to be considered much worse than Hitler. Certainly, he was responsible for the deaths of many more people than Hitler. The estimates of Russian deaths under Joseph Stalin are estimated to be 40 million (yes, forty million individuals!), including the approximately 10 million killed as a result of Stalin's collectivization of the Russian farms in the early 1930s. Even Hitler (who killed twenty million individuals!) did not come close to matching these numbers.

Historically, this term refers to the dead, wounded and missing resulting from a battle. Casualties in a game, however, normally represent more than the actual personnel losses and include the functional breakdown of military units as effective combat forces due to dead, wounded and missing troops as well as equipment losses and damage. It is for this reason that often the losing unit in a battle is removed from a game.

Tim E has it right...Joseph Stalin is the greatest mass murderer in History, and Hitler is a very distant second......maybe even third when you add up the number of Chinese killed by Mao Tse Dung..

Causualties would be the number of people who died, usu. in a war. In this case, I think you mean "how many Russians soldiers in the Red Army died under Stalin's command"
