why did it cause so much trouble with the colonist

The intolerable acts, or coercive acts, as the colonists called them, caused a lot of trouble because of two reasons:
1) for the Boston residents, it decimated their economy by shutting down the port until the tea was paid for, and took away their self-government, as well as bringing in more soldiers to be quartered in their homes and also took away legal rights.
2) for the rest of the colonists, it made them realize that the same thing theoretically could happen to them as well. They worried about losing their rights as Englishmen.

How could it not...

It 1) Closed down Boston Harbor
2) Made the colonists pay for tea PLUS tax
3) Put 6,000 soldiers into Boston in peoples homes
4) Restricted town meetings
and 5) limited the power of the courts and mass assemblies...

You close down Boston harbor how could you trade? People who rely on trade by sea routes would be hurt significantly. The tax is self explanatory, they didn't like tax period. Putting 6,000 troops into their homes is only going to anger them more. They didn't like them in their town after the end of the French and Indian War, so I doubt they'd like them in their homes. If you restrict town meetings, they can't pass laws, nor can they rebel or get together to plan one. Lastly, when you limit the power of their courts, if they find a soldier guilty (british) the court in England can reverse that decision. As for the colonists, if they were found not guilty, the British court could reverse that decision and find him guilty, which was sometimes the case.

becuse they felt it took control of them I can relate to it like this

It is as if a parent has been staying at work late and the teenager has many freedoms
staying up late
watchin tv
not doing homework
when suddenly the parents starts to come home early and the parent starts to crack down on the teenage and they are not allowed to do those things mentioned above

When the colonist's "parent" or britian cracked down on them the colonists tv rights were not taken away but their right to goverment and say in taxes were, so they were not to happy about it and thy thought it was intolerable hence the name
