Oh, I would always make up excuses why I should be allowed to go to school when I was actually too sick to attend! I loved school and had perfect attendance many years. I can tell you, however, that my son's favorite excuse was his asthma. I came to realize it was always worse on Tuesday mornings. Seems he had a math quiz on Tuesdays and hated math.....he realized that I was on to his act and started studying on Monday nights. After that he did a little better in math, but more importantly, he quit missing school on Tuesdays! Good question!!

1) I have a test/project and I'm totally unprepared
2) I just threw up.
3) My class has a field trip and I don't want to go but my friends won't be there so can I stay?

Another thing I do is act real sick the night before and wake up around 5 a.m. complaining. I make myself cry.
I'm a good actress when it comes to getting out of school.
I still do the same stuff.

When I was in fifth grade I loved to stay home and listen to KGO newstalk radio.
I would hold the heating pad on my forhead, call my mom in and tell her I was sick, she'd feel my forhead and get the thermometer. I'd wait til she left the room, hustle into the bathroom and hold the thermometer under running hot water, race back to bed with it.
Free ticket to listen to the radio all day!

*were a kid. Pretending to be sick or I couldn't sleep the whole night (and I have a test I need to be well rested for, then I would go to the last class or whatever class I really had the test in).

I actually always wanted to go to school. If I was sick, I'd stay home and call the school myself to tell them I wouldn't be there. My mother wasn't the proper "guardian" type.

That I didn't want to go to school.

Mom believed in "dumb days," in which we could ask to stay home. I used them three times. My sister used them so many times the school system threatened legal action against my mom.

So much for dumb days.
