McCain has already been wimpyfied by the Bush/Rove team, so it would be extremely difficult for him to become President anyway. Calling for more troops would be like throwing gasoline on a fire that is already out of control, and it looks like he is just shilling for the Bush side. Maybe he thinks he can win the Bush people and get the nomination that way. It would be a mistake to underestimate the Bush camp, just because they lost the mid-term elections. To do so is to forget what happened in 2000!

That all depends on if they are actually deployed and how many die. Most scholors now believe this war cannot be won militarily. If there is more disaster in Iraq, McCain will be doomed simply for giving his unqualified support for this unpopular war.
