I'm having a hard time finding which books I actually like. Any suggestions? I do like the Chronicles of Narnia and Series of Unfortunate events, if that helps.

I highly, highly, highly recommend Stephen R. Lawhead.
He's written five trilogies of fantasy and/or historical ficition books, plus at least three others that I know of and his new book about Robin Hood is coming out soon.

His books:

Dragon King trilogy (fantasy in the cast of Middle Earth & Narnia):
In the Hall of the Dragon King
The Warlords of Nin
The Sword and the Flame

Empyrion Saga (recently picked these two up, but I haven't read them yet. They're more science fiction):
Empyrion I: The Search for Fierra
Empyrion II: The Siege of Dome

The Pendragon Cycle (this is actually two back-to-back trilogies about the Arthur legend. These are really good!):

Taliesin
Merlin
Arthur

Pendragon
Grail
Avalon

The Song of Albion (highly imaginative neo-Celtic fantasy):
The Paradise War
The Silver Hand
The Endless Knot

The Celtic Crusades (the Crusades from the point of view of a family from the northern Scottish isles):
The Iron Lance
The Black Rood
The Mystic Rose

Byzantium (about an Irish monk and his adventures on a trip to Byzantium)

You'd probably also like books by Madeline L'Engle (A Wrinkle in Time), Anne McCaffery (Harper Hall Trilogy, Dragonrider books, The Ship Who Sang) and Zilpha Keatley Snyder (look for "The Egypt Game").

Try some of the newer classics!
Catch-22: Joseph Heller
A Clockwork Orange: Anthony Burgess
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest: Ken Kesey
The Bell Jar: Sylvia Plath
The Joy Luck Club: Amy Tan

I am sure you would enjoy the Harry Potter series as well. Dont go out and buy the books, either. Hit up your local library!

Have you tried Oprah's book club? I really like books like the Series of Unfortunate Event's also but I just read a couple off her list and they were pretty good. The one I liked the best that I reccomend every one to read is A Million Little Pieces by James Frey. A couple of other good ones that I have read are The Cedar Post and Joy both by Jack R. Rose. And I am David by Anne Holm. Good Luck

I don't know if you will like this series, but i LOVE "Uglies", "Pretties" and "Specials" by Scott Westerfeld. They are AMAZING. You will never be able to put them down. It is more of a teen fiction type book, but it doesn't matter what age you are. It has PLENTY of adventure, romance, and some mystery. It's an adventure just reading the back of the book. They are about 400 pages each. But it is worth your wild. They are just breath-taking. You should check them out, they are just amazing, I HIGHLY HIGHLY Recommend them.

Also try Harry Potter if you like the Chronicles and stuff like that.

There are all types of series' out there that might appeal to you. One is the 'March to' series by John Ringo. You might even try books by Dennis McKiernan and Raymond Feist. Or if you like magic and all that that entails try both of the series written by Trudi Cananvan. They are excellent reads. Or David Eddings writes heroic fantasy. Edmond Thomson has a series sort of like Eragon but better in my opinion. Mercedes Lackey and Marion Zimmer Bradley and Andre Norton are the Grand Dames of Sci-fi/fantasy and they are superb. David Weber has a fantasy series out and so does David Drake whose Lord of the Isles series are a good set of reads too. Have fun and happy reading.

Though they are a bit dark, a series of books I think you might like are the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. They're more in style of Lord of the Rings, they're not as much horror as many of his other books are.
