I don't know if they will let you trade them in, the warranty isfor them passing away. But if they do allow you to "trade" them in, it would be face value, which would be probably 2 maybe 3 Oscar's. Good Luck. Just so you know, Chiclid's are fun to feed, my firemouth will tap on the glass so I will drop in more feeders for "him".

A 55 gallon tank is the minimum for a single Oscar, but a 55 gallon is the same depth as the length of an adult Oscar, so he would have difficulty turning around, so you really need a 75 gallon for an Oscar. I would not but "many" Africans in a 55 gallon. Perhaps a few. However, it really depends on the species. Narrow down what species you would like and then determine how many can go into a tank. I will provide a link, scroll down to the bottom and click on the African you like and the website will provide tank info. Website does have pictures Hope this helps!

African Cichlids

No idea what Petsmart's trade policy is, you will have to call and ask. How many oscars you get depends on the size of your tank. Oscars grow HUGE and poop a LOT, so a bare-bottom (for easy cleaning) 30 gallon tank will comfortably house only one Oscar.

Tell them that you would rather have the Oscars and would pay the difference. Call before going and talk to the manager about their 2 week policy. Have a nice Christmas.
