computer malfunction?

ok, i shut my computer off a different one, not the one im using now. Everytime i press the power button, it goes through the little warm up process, then the screen goes blank , everything turns off, then starts up again. It keeps repeating this process and wont stop.

could be the processor fan has gone and thus it is overheating and causing a thermal shutdown.
