So many calls for blood. "Dui offenders are a danger and they should not be allowed to operate a motor vehicle ever again."
What if we took their licences for good, initiated incentives that would ensure they never operate a motor vehicle?
Take the number of offenders in the U.S. each year as a whole. Take their licence and vehicle. Calculate lost state and federal revenue involved with licenceing and operation of vehicles. Impose the hardship of transportation on families of offenders who will shoulder the load of transportation. Consider those who don't have this option. Think of the demand on public transportation. Think of increased crime as those deficient, suffering supreme loss, turn to criminal behavior to survive. Think long term as someone creative comes up with a way of cheap transport for those infracted souls that is more appealing than ur oil swilling buick. Auto makers will be pleased.

Even tho venemous conservatives cry for the judgment hammer to swing on dui offenders, they'r greedy nature would not allow the situation disbanning them would cause. Snively conservatives are so afraid of change they would be lost in confusion at the new world created by some of their hair-brained ideas.

Hey @sshole, driving is a privilege not a right! You have lost your privilege because of your own actions. You have the right to appeal, but that will be turned down because you don't take responsibilty for your actions. You are a selfish man. Boo fukn hooo!

Simply taking their licenses and cars away would not prevent them from drinking and driving. My cousin has had countless DUI's and has lost her license....not sure for how long, but she lost it the first time and has never got it back yet, but she still continues to drive anyway. Not all people who are arrested foe DUI are alcoholics who flat out don't care about others. Some people honestly have only had a couple drinks and felt perfectly fine and thought they could drive with no problems. Of course, that's not really an excuse, but for some people, they just made a mistake and would never get behind a wheel after drinking again. They're not all malicious and repeat DUI offenders. Have you ever had a drink or 2 and drove home? I have and I'm not an alcoholic by any means. I don't drink regularly and actually I rarely drink at all. If I make one mistake, should I have to pay for it the rest of my life considering I haven't injured or killed someone of course? Every situation is not the same.

you must be trying to be a defense lawyer. it is all so true what you "questioned", about the hardships that are imposed upon the person and the family of one that has been convicted of a DUI, but consider the hardship on the ones that have lost their father because he was killed by a drunk driver, the cost of burial, the lost income, the mental anguish that the children and the rest of the family will go through. to quote from an old "star trek" phrase,
"the good of the many out weigh the needs of the few" the few are the drunk drivers, the many are the ones responsible enough
not to drink and drive drunk. learn to be responsible and the world will treat you with respect which is all in of itself earned.

This society were bred upon forgiveness and correction. To lose you license forever on the 1st time getting caught would be a bit harsh. However, on the second time, hell yes!
