It's best to follow the manufacturers warnings. I have a small one I use at work and they advice NOT to place anything near the base as that is where the light bulb (a very hot one) is located. They also recommend not to run it for more than 10 hours at a time.. Please be careful so you can enjoy your Christmas day.

:)

Yep, I have a fiber optic tree too and yes you can put something around the base of it like a tree skirt or presents. I do every year and haven't had a problem with it.

I've had a fiber optic tree for 5 yrs or so and never had any problems with it, whether putting gifts directly under it or a tree skirt.

I would check periodically to see if things get warm, then you'll know if it safe or not...we have one also, I've noticed the black box that's about in the middle of the power cord gets pretty warm when the tree is on. Good luck with this and have a very happy Holiday and Christmas that is filled with many wonderful moments.

I'd give it a few inches, at least. We have a fiber optic one, too. Sure is pretty!

Well, if you still have the box, I would read the lables for fire warnings or what not.
