When was internet invented?

No one person invented the Internet as we know it today. However, certain major figures contributed major breakthroughs:
Leonard Kleinrock was the first to publish a paper about the idea of packet switching, which is essential to the Internet. He did so in 1961. Packet switching is the idea that packets of data can be "routed" from one place to another based on address information carried in the data, much like the address on a letter. Packet switching replaces the older concept of "circuit switching," in which an actual electrical circuit is established all the way from the source to the destination. Circuit switching was the idea behind traditional telephone exchanges.

Al Gore first dreamed the idea of the Internet in High School. However, once he got into politics he found various ways to fund Arpanet to full fill his life long dream of creating the Internet. It is rumored that he may have known about the sale of arms to Iran which then funneled the money through the Contras which was then smuggled past Mexico as far back as 1969 to get money to buy more bandwidth. Based on this Al Gore invented the Internet in 1969.

The internet as we know it evolved out of the Arpanet (Which stands for Advanced Research Projects Agency Network). Planning can be traced back to 1962 or 1963, with a final plan being presented in 1968. The first arpanet link was established on October 29th, 1969.

i think they created the internet in February 1958
